MYSTERY HAPPENING
Let's play the game of Clue, which might be more recognizable for our European designers as Cluedo. Also, any Australian should at least recognize the characters, as they were used in an advertising campaign by photographer Richard de Chazal. Cleudo (later renamed Clue) that was the vision of Anthony E. Pratt. It was originally published by Waddingtons in Leeds, England in 1949.
However, it's belonged to the toy company, Hasbro, now for many years, who acquired its U.S. publisher Parker Brothers as well as Waddingtons. That's how many got to know Clue here in North America, and other versions have been adapted throughout the years, so children around the world have come to know it, too.
Several updates on the characters, who are said to be loosely based on those from the Agatha Christie novels, have been made also. They have been portrayed in a movie, on television in a series produced by Alfred Hitchcock, and subsequent board games have updated the characters in order to keep up with what is in vogue.
This was also originally a board game that featured the rooms of a mansion. You see, there had been a murder, and the players were tasked to identify which of the six characters did the deed. They also needed to identiry the murder weapon as well as which room the murder took place.
For our purposes we wanted ten female characters, so we adapted the most interesting version of the characters we could find, and used all the women who ever appeared in the game whether they were originally a suspect or not. These are the characters for "our" 2013 version of this board game.

Whether you design clothing, furniture or accessories you will MUST select a character, a weapon and a room. Furniture and accessory artists will only have 2 slots, and will be required to choose from either Mrs. Ho or the Singing Telegram Girl, but may make a selection from any of the weapons and any of the rooms. The restriction of character is to guarantee the most interesting characters are left to be dressed.
Clothing designers may choose from the other 8 characters and also MUST select their weapon and room of choice. There will be no duplicates, so if your character has been taken I will let you know what is still available when you enter. Also, if the furniture/accessory artists don't use their 2 choices, they will be open for the clothing designers.
Now here's what is expected of you for your Mystery Happening presentation. Each of you MUST do pictures that include your character in the room you have selected, so you will need to set up a diorama to do this. You don't have to show your weapon of choice, but if you choose to, it will add to how your presentation looks. Take this opportunity to be inventive, and most of all, have fun with your presentation!
This entry is due 10/1/13, but you must declare you want in on this one 9/3 through 9/8.
Pictures: I need 2 - 800 pixels wide by appropriate height, high resolution (300 dpi) pictures. These are to be 2 UNIQUE poses done in front of a scenario if you're able; in front of the same solid background if you are not. Title your pictures: YourLastNameClue1, and YourLastNameClue2. I need 2 - 1800 x 2400 pixel high res pictures @ 300 dpi. Title these YourLastNameClue3 and YourLastNameClue4.
Description: At the beginning of your description, put in your name, shop name, and the url of your website. Then you need to add a short paragraph noting who you chose to dress, and mentioning what room they were in, and what they used to murder Mr. Boddy. You will also need to make sure this paragraph mentions a set of accusations that may or may not solve this mystery - you may accuse your person or any of the people mentioned above!
Then add one more short, descriptive paragraph describing your item or garment.
The winner, if there is one, will get a prize and get one for you as the designer, also. More details on that later; for now we need to get the facts all set, so concentrate on declaring whodunnit in the paragraph description above. Let's have some fun!
